PSA: Metro Manila Malls Adjusts Mall Hours For Holiday Season ‘Til January 2024
Starting November 13, Metro Manila malls adjusts mall hours to open at 11 am and close at 11 pm, which will last until January 8, 2024.
Metro Manila’s rush hour on a normal day is unbearable, but the Christmas rush during the holidays takes traffic to another level.
To relieve the heavy traffic on our roads during the Christmas season, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has announced their plan with malls in the metro to adjust their sale schedules and operating hours for November and December 2023, up until early January 2024.
Metro Manila Malls Adjusts Mall Hours
Starting November 13, Metro Manila malls adjusts mall hours to open at 11 am and close at 11 pm, which will last until January 8, 2024, according to the MMDA announcement last Friday.
What does this mean for shoppers? This means that you can expect malls in the metro on all days during that period, unless the malls are specified to be closed completely on a set date. Aside from that, you can watch out for mall-wide sales limited only during weekends.
“Gusto rin naming i-stretch ‘yung oras ng mga malls, para may option ‘yung ating mga kababayan na kung gusto magpagabi, ma-spread out natin ‘yung [mga] sasakyan [sa kalsada] sa mas mahabang oras,” MMDA acting chairperson Don Artes said in a press conference.
In addition, the mall delivery schedules are adapting to the change, with only a window of 11 pm to 5 am during the period. Perishable goods are exempted from this scheme.
Are Metro Manila malls closed on December 25?
Some malls shorten their business hours or close shops regularly during December 25—including December 30 (Rizal Day), December 31 (New Year’s Eve) and January 1 (New Year’s Day). The operating hours vary per mall, however they usually post announcements early December.
This article will be updated once malls announce their holiday operating hours.
