KPop Demon Hunters: Pop Stars by Day, Slayer by Night

They are global KPop idols by day, gracing magazine covers, breaking records, and topping global music charts. But by night? They are demon slayers saving the world in between concert tours.
Set in an alternate Seoul where nightlife is literally lit (by demons, oops), global superstars Rumi (Arden Cho), Mira (May Hong), and Zoey (Yoo Ji-Young) moonlight as badass demon slayers. When they’re not selling out stadiums, they’re busy protecting the world from ever-present supernatural dangers.
Together, they must face the biggest threat of all—a demonic KPop boy band stealing hearts and souls of fans all over the world.

Think of the 4Town boy band from the animated movie Turning Red. But instead of using their charms to inspire people, they are using them to steal souls!
KPop Demon Hunters is produced by Sony Pictures Animation, the people behind hits like Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse and The Mitchells vs. The Machines. This Netflix movie is directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, story by Kang, a script by Danya Jimenez, Hannah McMechan, Kang, and Appelhans.
“It was really my desire to see Korean people on film in animation. So it actually started off as just a demon hunter project where I wanted to showcase Korean demons. Because demon hunting is usually a side job that’s done in secret, it was like, what is their day job?” Kang said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that what inspired her to create this story.
The rise of BTS as a global KPop sensation aligned while she was creating the story for the film.
“There was this moment where things were pretty grim,” she said, pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic. “You had BTS on the rise, and they were doing these virtual concerts. It was affirming this feeling that music, in its weird way, is a counterweight to darkness and bad stuff.”
KPop Demon Hunters promises an action-packed comedic adventure, with colorful backdrops, and a full-fledged pop musical like no other.
Star-studded Cast of KPop Demon Hunters

Big names from Hollywood and South Korea make up this star-studded cast of Korean actors and actresses.
