The 2023 PUBG MOBILE National Championship (PMNC) winners are set to face international squads with Harame Bro leading the Philippines’ roster. Qualifying PH teams enter the world stage starting with the Regionals happening this year.
2023 PUBG MOBILE National Championship Winners
In the first-ever offline event for PUBG MOBILE National Championships, Harame Bro emerged victorious among 200 teams hailing across the country and took the lion’s share of 500,000 PHP cash prize pool during the event last January 6-7.
Joining them are six other teams: 214 Akira, Exquisite Esports, Dread Esports, ELV8 Esports, the top seeded teams Playbook Esports (PBE) and Enigma. These pros will represent the Philippines in this year’s international PUBG Mobile Esports competitions, starting with the regionals in SEA, competing with the best squads from Myanmar, Cambodia, and Singapore.
“We are thrilled to have our first-ever offline event for the PUBG Mobile National Championships. Since 2022, only one team has made it to the regional pro tournaments. Now, there are seven. Knowing our teams, we look forward to the matches against our Southeast Asian neighbors and for our Filipino representatives to impress the region with their skills and strategy,” said Franchesca Fajardo, Esports Manager at PUBG MOBILE Philippines.
PH teams will be vying for the glory of being named as one of the Philippines’ best PUBG MOBILE teams, but also the honor of representing the motherland on the global stage. Having multiple teams qualifying for regionals will strengthen the country’s growing prominence in the regional competitive gaming landscape.
Last year, Abdul “Monboy” Barode took home the country’s first bronze medal in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games’ PUBG MOBILE Individual Event, bringing national pride and cementing the Philippines’ status as an esports frontrunner in the region.
Harame Bro Eyes Global Tournaments
After taking the trophy as the PMNC winners, leading team Harame Bro is ready to challenge global talents and they are eyeing to be at the global tournaments.
In an interview, Harame Bro shared that in preparing for tournaments, they provide full support to their players. This includes rigorous bootcamps to hone their skills, teamwork and communication, as well as helping them juggle their professional life (and even studies for their players who are still studying).
With the regionals within their hands, the team also shared they aspire to reach global tournaments, a dream for every PUBGM player.
PUBG MOBILE has grown to be more than just a source of entertainment for players from all ages. The inclusion of esports in mainstream culture has made it possible for young Filipinos to aspire becoming professional or go ‘pro.’
Attended by thousands of Filipino PUBG MOBILE fans, this year’s PUBG MOBILE National Championship was supported by TECNO Mobile, one of the world’s leading smartphone brands.
“TECNO’S partnership with PUBG MOBILE Esports is a testament of our support for the Philippine esports community. We are committed to be part of meaningful collaborations which empower our very own esports teams. We guarantee it by providing innovative smartphone devices and other resources to make them more competitive in the global gaming arena,” TECNO Mobile Philippines Product Manager Matt Villagracia shared.
